Choice of Johnson mill:
Having an outdoor wedding is always risky, especially when you have no indoor venue to escape to if the weather gets hairy. I knew I wanted to take the risk regardless because you can’t beat having a gorgeous outdoor location. Midway is one of the most beautiful spots in Utah. But what really sold me on the venue was The Grove where the ceremony takes place. It was a magical moment the first visit when we were looking at venues. I knew in my heart it was the place as soon as I stepped foot in the middle of those beautiful trees and stood in front of the wooden arbor. I will never forget it.

Invites:

Creating the invite with Molly was the first stir of excitement because it was the first tangible piece of the wedding. It was so rewarding to finally see all of my style inspirations merged together. I was inspired by old wooden fruit crates, burlap grain sacks, garden roses, and anything French country. Mollie pulled it off so perfectly; I couldn’t wait to send them out. The cleverest part that I was thrilled over was our custom stamp that Mollie designed from the fruit crates I was inspired by. They had stamps on the sides of them and it reminded me of some beautiful furniture piece or décor from Pottery Barn. Even cleverer was that we used it to stamp as our return address! Lovely!

Ring Box:
I wanted something original for our ring box and I had browsed through lots of fun DIY projects from Pinterest that I thought might do the trick. I hadn’t quite decided what I wanted to go with yet when I was searching at local vintage store for some cute hankies for my bridesmaids. I came across a glass cabinet of old jewelry boxes. My eyes set on a precious gold box with two pearly knobs that opened like French doors to two small and velvety jewelry drawers. It seemed almost made for my exact purpose. That box will be a keepsake that I can put out on my vanity and treasure always.

My mother’s parents are the cutest couple that ever hit this planet. I can only hope to be as adorably in love as they are when I am their age with my honey. Instead of grandma and grandpa they are nanny and pappy in my family. My pappy had an eye surgery just before the wedding and said he would not be able to make it to the wedding. When I heard this from my mom it brought me to tears. He is the sweetest man and I don’t get to see him very often. I knew my nanny was coming so I felt grateful in that. On the day of the wedding we had just had the most beautiful ceremony and finished up some pictures. As we came out to our dinner I saw my sweet pappy sitting at one of the tables. He wasn’t in good shape but when he heard how I cried he said he couldn’t miss it. It was a sweet moment that I won’t forget.

With our French country theme we used aged, blue farmhouse tables, burlap runners, garden rose centerpieces, and rustic invites. I wanted to fit in something twall somewhere because it feels perfectly French country. We have a precious twall bench that sits in front of a fireplace at my parent’s house. I wanted to incorporate it and so we designed our whole sweetheart table around it. My flower lady was brilliant and incorporated some twall fabric into the arbor décor instead of flowers. It gave it a simple romance in such a natural setting.
